Suspected Al Shabaab militants have killed 14 people and injured 11 in an attack that occurred at 2am in Mandera. The eleven survivors have been rushed to hospital.
The attackers shot at their victims randomly at Soko Mbuzi village. The militants vanished to a nearby bush when police arrived at the scene. Grenades had been planted on the doors of the houses that house the Quarry workers.
Most of the workers were however sleeping in tents outside the houses due to the hot weather in the region.
This is the second such attack on quarry workers in Mandera with the first such attack claiming 36 lives.
